Shivpal Yadav while attacking BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra
Modi said that Modi will lose this election from Varanasi. Yadav was
addressing a public gathering in Ghatampur in support of SP candidate
Lal Singh Tomar from Akbarpur Lok Sabha seat.
"Though Modi is contesting Lok Sabha polls from Varanasi but the secular people will not let him win. His defeat is certain," said Yadav. Shivpal also praised the ruling government and said that if party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav becomes the Prime Minister, he will take along people from all sections of the society. Trying to woo people of upper caste and OBCs in Ghatampur, Yadav said that Samajwadi Party believes in incorporating people from all sections of society along and that the party is concerned for everybody.
"It is rumoured that SP only is concerned for muslims. We are worried for people of UP in general. The parties in the opposition try to malign the image of SP and therefore, they give statements that create confusion in the minds of the people," he added.
Counting upon the achievements of his party in the state, Shivpal praised the efforts of Akhilesh Yadav led government. He claimed that his government gave laptops to all the meritorious students so that they can contribute their bit in both the development of the country. This was an attempt by Shivpal to woo the youth of the region realising that these young voters will play a crucial role in elections this time. He also touched upon the problems of the farmers.
"Our government has provided free water to the farmers and we are now making efforts to provide more power to them," said the SP leader. While answering to a question, SP leader said that the decision of giving ticket to Atiq Ahmad was done more than a year ago. Meanwhile, Vijay Sachan of BJP joined Samajwadi Party along with his supporters.
